There is nothing worse for someone with OCD than to have his or her day interrupted, rescheduled or complicated. I will admit that I have OCD tendencies and I loathe and I do mean loathe having my day interrupted, rescheduled or complicated. I become moody, short tempered and I begin to breakout in a sweat. In October, I turned thirty; I heard such great things from all my friends who had already hit that dreaded age about how wonderful life was and how great it feels to be thirty – yeah, not so much.
The day I turned thirty I swear my physiological make-up changed. I began experiencing terrible frequent headaches that I thought at first was stress related over becoming old, but after several weeks of reoccurring headaches, I began to do some research. My OCD tends to leave me somewhat paranoid so it did not take long for me to come to the conclusion that all the information I found on the internet pointed toward a brain tumor and I was convinced I was dying. I am a bit of a drama queen but none the less, I finally had to admit that I now suffer with chronic migraines and life just got much more complicated.
Dealing With It And Moving On
Rather than sitting around and allowing my migraine pain to dictate my life and schedule, I got up and took control. I began to seek out different migraine treatment plans and quickly realized, I was not fond of my options. Being over sensitive to medications and a mother of a very active three year old, the idea of being doped on medications such as antidepressants, antiseizure medicine and blood pressure pills did not sit well with me. I wanted to enjoy life and not struggle even more so with mood swings and depression.
Then, I discovered the different holistic approaches one could take in regards to treating migraines naturally, effectively and safely without side effects or negative bodily reactions. I have found several of the following methods useful and beneficial:
- Acupuncture
- Chiropractic Manipulation
- Massage Therapy
- Physiotherapy
- Herbal Supplements
