Whenever there is a warning sign or flashing caution light on the open road, most drivers slow down, take time to read the warning sign or pay heed to the flashing caution lights. I have a theory that drivers typically only pay heed to warning signs and caution lights in order to avoid the consequences involving law enforcement. There are those few who really desire to obey the law with pure motives but I have lived with my husband long enough to know that there are those men ( I mean individuals) that like to throw caution to the wind and see just how much they can get away with before something dreadful happens (a.k.a speeding ticket).
When suffering from chronic migraines, the temptation to seek out a quick fix can become a fixation. Years of debilitating migraine pain can drive anyone to the brink of insanity. However, one must proceed with caution and take heed in the warnings that come with certain migraine treatment options. Prescription medication is often prescribed for reoccurring migraines, the problem with prescription medications is that they could encourage the onset of terrible side effects that may worsen one’s health and even cause permanent damage.
Prescriptions Often Prescribed
The most common medications prescribed as a form of a migraine treatment would be:
- Antiseizure Medicine
- Antidepressants
- Blood Pressure Medicine
When prescribed for their original purpose, these medications may prove to be beneficial; however, none of the three were uniquely designed to help aid in migraine relief. Clinical test have shown that the use of such narcotics have provided some migraine relief for chronic migraine sufferers but the real question is at what cost? Narcotics come with warning labels for a reason – they are dangerous. Even if the products instructions are carefully followed, one still runs the risk of developing an addiction to their prescription.
Symptoms and side effects often associated with prescription medications include: hallucinations, drowsiness, depression, hyper activity, suicidal tendencies, mood swings, trouble sleeping and increase or decrease in appetite. If you or someone you love is contemplating the use of prescription medication as your primary migraine treatment, please do so with careful supervision and with much thought and research beforehand.
