My wife loves Yankee Candle votives, tarts, and especially the large jars; they burn for like one hundred fifty hours. We went in the other day to find some new scents and to utilize a coupon for buy two, get two free. So, we smelled I think fifty scents or more and my head was swimming with all the olfactory stimuli. Finally, I had to get out of there because all of the smells had irritated me so that I began to get nauseous. Fortunately, I didn’t get sick that day but it reminds me how certain smells can be an agitating trigger of a perpetual migraine. The smell of smoking people can be exceptional irritating to many migraine sufferers because of how strong the stench is on one’s nostrils. One of my triggers is the smell of an incoming rain; it will most assuredly bring me a delightful little migraine. Since there is no cure for migraines, all you can do is avoid your known triggers and follow a migraine treatment plan.
How Can I Kick It?
Avoiding your known triggers first begins by identifying the trigger. Observe the circumstances that precede your migraine. Some may be on this list while others may not, but all can be triggers for your migraine:
- Humidity / Dry Air
- Food
- Caffeine Enriched Beverages
- Bright Light / Low Light
- Smoking
- Alcohol
- Weather Changes
- Back/Neck Pain
Ask your primary care physician if they know any other triggers that you may want to avoid Remember: they are the catalysts of the migraine; without them, you are migraine pain free.
Migraine treatments are the only other way to help alleviate migraine attacks in your life; they may take time to discover but once you do, you will be well equipped to destroy the migraine in your path to a peaceful, pain-free life. There are a number of possible migraine treatments such as:
