If you have ever ridden the Mad Hatters Tea Cup ride as Disney World, you may be familiar with the craziness of the ride. The goal is the ride is to see how fast you can get your tea cup to spin without throwing up while still being able to walk upright once the ride has stopped. I rode this ride once with my husband and my three year old daughter and swore I would never ride it again. Both my husband and my daughter get some form of an adrenalin rush at the feeling of being out of control – well not me.
Call me a control freak but I have never enjoyed medications and the way they make me feel. I have an overly sensitive body when it comes to medication, therefore I strive hard to look for other forms of treatments to help me cope with pain. Migraine pain is one of those conditions that can knock me out of commission for several days and leave me surrendered to its vindictive cycle and causes me to rethink my philosophy of medicating. However, due to the physiological change that a migraine creates within the body already, I step back, rethink and proceed to treat my migraine with as few medications as possible.
Research has come a long way in helping those who suffer with chronic migraines find relief without the use of finicky prescription medications such as Triptans and Ergots. Prescription medications can have several adverse side effects on its users and for someone like me this does not sit well. Being a woman, I am naturally emotional and do not need any added hormones from the medications to worsen my state. Natural migraine pain relief can be had without subjecting oneself to medication.
