If you have ever had a migraine, you know how debilitating it can leave you and how frustrated it can make you. Beautiful daylight cripples your attitude and any number of triggers hinders you from fulfilling work-related tasks or even performing basic daily motor functions. A trigger for me is the smell of the soon-approaching rain storm yet for others, it could be caffeine or the over abundance of chocolate. Yes….not a pretty picture; in fact, it’s more like a nightmare of unending pain, nausea and dizziness. You see, migraines are a chronic neurological condition which is caused by the expanding of blood vessels in the brain and once you’re on this rollercoaster, there is no fast-pass off it.
So, how do you ease the pain, end the hurling and regain your composure? You need to attack your migraine with some migraine treatment options. Now, normal over-the-counter meds, like Advil, Tylenol, or Motrin, will not handle your migraine with efficiency or even effectiveness. It would be like putting a band-aid over a bullet wound. Your migraine treatment options need to be thought through, tactful and have a history of success behind them.
Options, Options – Whose Got The Options?
You could talk to your primary care physician or local walk-in clinic; however, you may only get one viewpoint which could skew your possible migraine treatment options. Many of these professionals are pro-meds, pro-meds only and to say that “only taking prescription medicine is the best way” would be leaving out other options and could even hurt you due to the overwhelming about of side effects many medications have. Some prescribed meds actually cause more problems different from your migraine and don’t seem to help you as effectively as they could. So, I would tread carefully when considering prescription medication as your only option.
Acupuncture, massage therapy or even chiropractic adjustment could be healthier, safer, and more efficient options to look into with few side effects because of their approach; these are mechanical forms of curing ails which do not use engineered additives to affect a change. Recent research has even shown that enhancing your diet with natural supplements such as feverfew, magnesium and any number of B vitamins can drastically, yet safely, minimize or even in some cases eliminate your migraines all together. So……….choose wise
