Treating Children With Migraines

Migraines do not just affect adults children can get them too. Trying to find therapies that work for children can be tricky. Their bodies are still developing and precautions must be taken when considering heavy prescription drugs to treat pain. So what do you do when your child has a migraine?

If your child develops a migraine it is best to place him or her into a dark room with a cool rag over their forehead. Make sure there are no loud noises around. Sports that create heavy exertion should be played with caution. Light exercising like bike riding or swimming might be less strenuous than maybe soccer or football.
Overall you want to keep your child healthy and motivated. Keep a close watch on what they are eating and the activities they are participating in before the experience the migraine. Parents are encouraged to keep a journal so they might identify the child individual patterns of migraine onset.
