The process of a migraine headache is not entirely known but it is speculated to affect the neurological and vascular systems in the brain. You see, once a trigger is encountered, the sufferer will begin the process with the blood vessels in the brain expanding and enlarging. As they expand, a chemical is released into the brain causing the immense pain associated with migraine headaches; yet this is only 50% of the pain. The rest of it comes from the inflamed trigeminal nerve which makes the migraine a neurological condition. The pain is not the only thing you will have to deal with throughout the migraine process. There are other symptoms that will plague you at different stages of the event. However, you will not return to normal until the blood vessels subside their expanding and normal viscosity is restored. This can most only be achieved through the use of a migraine treatment. One such migraine treatment is the Migraine Support Formula which I will mention certain natural ingredients below that can help calm the different stage’s symptoms.
The Stages
Here are the four stages of the migraine headache:
- Prodrome – In this stage, you will have extreme fatigue, weird food cravings, depression, dizziness, stiffness in neck / back, constipation and even diarrhea. Riboflavin is a key component in charging up the metabolism, creating energy and minimizing fatigue in migraine sufferers.
- Aura – Only about 1/3 of the migraine sufferers experience this stage and that’s good. IF you do however, you can get blurred vision, hallucinations, zigzag vision, extreme vertigo, and even temporary blindness in one eye which will really scare you.
- Headache – The head pain is not the only symptom found in this stage. Nausea and loss of cognitive reasoning is very common as well. Feverfew, along with Butterbur, is a great way to naturally stop headaches and any inflammation which are the major issues most have with migraine headaches.
- Postdrome – In this final anti-climactic stage, you will feel fatigue and dizzy with some nausea and vomiting mixed in. It is somewhat of a “hung-over” wave that hits you as you return to normal. Ginger and Valerian are great from calming indigestion and aiding in sedative sleep.
