Fridays tend to be the best day of the week and not because the weekend starts. It’s payday and the drive-in line at most banks will be constipated with vehicles and people trying to cash or deposit their weeks long pay off. Crazy and exciting – all at the same time. Unfortunately, there are millions of people every year that labor intensively, struggle to survive and rarely see their pay off; these people are sufferers dealing with the chronic neurological condition known as migraine headaches. You would think that a headache would not be so problematic but that is why migraines are not classified as a headache but as a neurological condition. Headaches can be eliminated by some over the counter medicine and good rest, whereas migraines have no cure and the only relief that can be found is through the use of migraine treatments.
What’s The Big Idea?
Well, the big idea is that migraines are unmistakably caused by tiny, seemingly insignificant things known as triggers. These triggers are usually environmental in nature and almost always precede the migraine attack. Here are a few of the known triggers: weather changes, humidity, smells like smoke inhalation or perfume or body odor, hunger, stress, lack of sleep, certain foods, caffeine, loud noises, bright lights, alcohol or even neck / back tension. Once the trigger is encountered, blood vessels in the brain begin to enlarge and expand causing a chemical to be released into the brain. This chemical attacks the arteries in the brain initiating the immense pain associated with migraine headaches. However, pain is not the only symptom, so here are a few to be aware of: constipation, nausea, vomiting, loss of motor function / cognitive reasoning, dizziness, blurred vision, vertigo and even temporary blindness in one eye (during the aura stage). None of these symptoms are easy to deal with and they won’t disappear until the blood vessels that caused this mess return back to their original size and location.
Migraine treatments are great at helping reduce the pain / symptoms of the migraine attack and helping prevent any future attacks. Some of the migraine treatment options available are: Triptans and Ergots, chiropractic adjustment, therapeutic massage and even natural solutions such as the Migraine Support Formula.
