When struggling with migraine headaches, there are a few things you should be aware of. First off as you might have discovered, there is no cure for migraine headaches. Only through the use of a migraine treatment can you receive any relief from the pain and other symptoms of a migraine which vary based on the different stage you are in. Secondly, migraines are caused by trigger which can jump out and surprise you causing the migraine chain reaction you were trying to avoid. Triggers are most environmental or physiological and should be avoided if they can be; you don’t want to abandon your family and career responsibilities. Environmental trigger can look like these: bright light, loud noises, some smells like cigarette smoke or perfume or body odor, weather conditions, humidity and even stress. Physiological triggers should look more like: hunger, fatigue, certain foods, caffeine, alcohol and even back / neck tension. Now, for the next little bit, we will go over what can happen in each of the stages of a migraine and how or what migraine treatment can help.
The Prodrome Stage
This is the first stage of a migraine headache and before you even get here, you use some preventative medication from Triptans and Ergots. In this stage, you experience fatigue, strange food cravings, depression, constipation, emotional stress and other subtle symptoms that a migraine headache is coming.
The Aura Stage
This stage affects the fewest amounts of people but the few that do experience it are not happy they do. The reason behind the discomfort is that the aura stage affects the eyes. You can experience blurred vision, zigzag vision, vertigo, hallucinations and even temporarily blinded in one eye. Acupuncture has proven to help with many eye conditions and can help reduce the symptoms of the aura stage.
The Headache Stage
The stage and symptoms are somewhat self-explanatory…pain and more pain. Butterbur is a natural herb that has been used for centuries to help reduce head pain and inflammation. The Migraine Support Formula has a precise amount of Butterbur and other ingredients that help with migraine symptoms.
The Postdrome Stage
As the head pain wanes, you will start to feel almost “hung-over” in this stage with more fatigue, nausea, vomiting and dizziness. Get some rest and take a Valerian Tea. You will feel better in the morning.
