Whenever a migraine patient starts to familiarize his or her self with the warning signs of an impending migraine headache, then he or she is better able to prepare, plan and treat their chronic migraine headaches. Those who are new to migraine headaches will most likely not be able to discern when a migraine headaches in on the horizon threatening to surface. However, as the person begins to experience more and more migraines than he or she may start to realize when their body is signaling one is on the way.
Preemptive warning signs are the key to knowing when a migraine headache is approaching. It takes time to learn the different warning signs due to their subtle nature. Preemptive migraine symptoms can be easily explained away so much so that it often takes several migraines to pass before a pattern is able to be noticed. Once the pattern is noticed, then the migraine sufferer can take action to hopefully stop the migraine before it has a chance to fully start! Preventing migraines, every and all migraine headache, is not possible; however, one can help reduce his or her chances of developing a migraine by implementing a migraine treatment as soon as the first preemptive migraine warning signs show up.
Preemptive Warning Signs
After several miserable migraine attacks, some of the following patterns may present themselves days before the painful throbbing and pounding of the migraine begin. If you are serious about learning the preemptive migraine warning signs, then you may want to try to journal or log your headaches, symptoms and feeling leading up to your actual migraine headache. After a few weeks of journaling, you may begin to notice the following warning signs were there but you somehow missed them or explained them away as something else altogether.
- Extreme Fatigue
- Obsessive Yawning
- Food Cravings- usually high in sugar or salt
- Bouts Of Depression
- Mood Swings
As you can see, the preemptive warning signs resemble several other conditions such as PMS, lack of sleep or just waking up on the wrong side of the bed. Regardless of what causes you to experience any of the above symptoms, you can learn them and recognize them as what they really are; then you will be able to seek out migraine treatment immediately and hopefully reduce your chances of a migraine attack.
