Having a periodic headache is nothing to be alarmed about, however when the norm becomes hiding in a dark bedroom something is not adding up. Headaches are painful at times and can cause a slight interruption in one’s day, but hiding away in a dark room for several days does not sound like a headache. Headaches can be easily treated with over the counter medicines such as Tylenol or Aspirin, if relief is not found within a few hours of taking a few over the counter pills, then the pain begin felt must be the result of something more complex than a mere headache.
Migraine headaches are severe and can leave a person out of commission for several days and no over the counter medicine can help remedy that. There comes a time when a person has to be willing to admit that they pain they are feeling in their head may be more than just a headache especially if he or she falls into one of the risk factors. Migraine risk factors increase the chances of reoccurring migraines and migraine symptoms. There are several factors that play into migraine risk factors and once you are made aware of what the risk factors are then you may have a better understanding of the discomfort and head pain you keep receiving.
Gender – gender plays a huge role in one’s risk of having chronic migraines. It appears as though women are three times more likely to have a migraine then men. One reason that this may hold true is due to the fluctuation women have in hormones during, before or after their monthly cycle.
Age – those who fall into the 15-55 age bracket are at a higher risk than those younger than 15 or older than 55. Children who have migraine headaches are not more likely to have them as adults they tend to outgrow them.
Family Genetics – if you have a long list of family members who suffer with migraines than your chances of receiving the same fate is high.
Though one may be at a higher risk than others, there are still ways to reduce migraine frequencies. Migraine treatment through preventative options such as: Migraine Support Formula, Triptans, Ergots and Chiropractic Care can help reduce the risk and frequencies of migraines.
