Migraine headaches are one of the most difficult illnesses to deal with mostly because there is no cure. Also like neuropathy and fibromyalgia, migraines have to be treated with a temporary migraine treatment which can come in many forms. Some are easily non-evasive and other come with a whole slew of side effects. One thing is for certain you must preventatively treat the migraine as there is little that can be done while going through the migraine headache.
What A Problem
Migraines are described as vascular headaches because of the effects they have on your vascular system (pertaining to veins). You see, once a migraine trigger has been encountered by the chronic sufferer, the body begins to go through a series of changes some of which are physiological and others are chemical in nature. Upon interacting with a migraine trigger such as exposure to certain odors such as cigarette smoke, perfume overload and in some cases body odor, the blood vessels in the brain begin to expand. The expanding of the blood vessels start to create a throbbing/ pounding sensation in the head making it difficult for the brain to function as it should.
The enlarging of the blood vessels is where the vascular term comes into play. The chemicals in the brain begin to shift and change as a result of the ever enlarging blood vessels which could ultimately take up to three days to fully enlarge and expand.
Migraine Pain And Relief Thereof
A migraine attack can be very painful as a result of the blood vessels enlarging as well as what happens next. As the blood vessels expand, they alter the chemical makeup in the brain and when they reach a certain level of largeness the blood vessels release harmful chemicals into the brain that attack the brains arteries making the migraine increase in painful intensity.
The attacking of the brain arteries leads to a whole slew of other migraine complications such as vomiting, constipation, blurred vision, dizziness, diarrhea and even bouts of mental confusion. Living in such pain is no picnic and should not be a way of life; migraine treatment should be the carefully thought over and implemented as soon as possible to prevent repetitive scenarios.
