OTC Helps Minorly
NSAID is typically used in conditions where chronic pain is felt. The purpose of NSAID is to relieve pain where inflammation has occurred. This approach could include prescription medication, migraine surgery, nerve muscle removal or some type of natural or holistic approach. Though medicating with over-the-counter medicine would be the ideal way to treat a migraine, there are those cases that need something more drastic in their approach to treating a migraine headache. Here are two forms of NSAID:
• Non-aspirin – examples of non-aspirin over the counter pills would include:
o Ibuprofen
o Acetaminophen
• Aspirin – examples of over the counter medication that have aspirin would be:
o Aleve (my favorite)
o Motrin
o Advil
More Intense Meds
Most chronic migraine sufferers are aware of how difficult a migraine headache can be and how challenging a migraine can be to get rid of so is it possible to treat a migraine with something as low key as over the counter pills? Many individual have to go the primary care physician and ask for some other more risky drugs such as Triptans or Ergots. These drugs were originally designed to stop the increase of high blood pressure yet now they can be used for migraine relief by constricting the very blood vessels that expand causing the migraine in the first place. However, they come with many side effects which can prove more deadly than not. Some people have had heart attacks and even strokes when taking these meds on a long term basis.
