Migraine headaches have a tendency to first appear between the ages of 10 and 45 in a person’s life. At times they can begin later in life. Migraines are prolonged neurological disorders defined as temperate to excruciating headaches, at times including sensitivity to light and nausea. Migraine headaches are also believed to be a biological disease. Migraines are likewise described by agonizing head pain, usually located on one side of the head. Nausea, hypersensitivity to light, vomiting, and dizziness ever so often go along with an incidence of the migraine.
Migraines are caused by irregular brain activity, which can be generated by a number of factors. Though, the exact chain of events is still not known. In the present day, most medical experts believe that the attack originates in the brain, and involves nerve pathways as well as chemicals. The changes affect blood flow in the brain and the surrounding tissues. Alcohol, stress as well as anxiety, certain odors, and perfumes, loud noises or bright lights, and smoking may also trigger a migraine. Migraine attacks can just as well be prompted by caffeine withdrawal, changes in hormone levels during a female’s menstrual cycle or even with the use of birth control pills, the changes in your sleep patterns, exercise or other physical exertion, skipping or missed meals, as well as smoking or even the exposure to smoke. Migraine headaches can also be triggered by some foods. Some of the most common of these are pretty much any that are processed, fermented, pickled, or marinated food items, as well as foods that contain monosodium glutamate better known as “MSG”. It is sad, but true that baked goods, chocolate, nuts, peanut butter, and dairy products have also been known to activate migraines in some people. Many foods that contain tyramine, some of which includes red wine, aged cheese, smoked fish, chicken livers, figs, and certain beans are well known sources for migraine triggers as well. Some fruits such as avocado, citrus, and even bananas have also been known to cause a migraine in some individuals. However this list may not include all the possible triggers or causes for migraines.
