Would you like to try our new holiday flavors: Peppermint Mocha or Pumpkin Spice? What about fries or apple dippers? Do you want ice or no ice in your drink? Cash or credit? We are asked many questions and offered tons of options in a given day i.e. McDonald’s Drive-thru. Some of these choices are small and produce almost trivial consequences (good or bad) in our life; while others, if not chosen wisely, can result in a cataclysmic consequence of many times irreversible magnitude that will leave you distraught, dazed and confused. Choosing your migraine treatment plan is one such choice. If thoroughly researched and investigated, your plan can give you freedom, peace and tranquility to live life the way you want. However, if you use the “zap” method and randomly point to an option and ignorantly use it; you may find you self in a whirl wind of pain, dizziness, nausea or even vomiting. Not fun – at all.
Options: Good, Bad And Ugly
You must choose the correct option for you in order for you to have less intensity and frequency of your migraine attacks. There are a number of migraine treatment options to choose from; the following are some of the current choices and some info on each:
- Prescription Medication – Triptans and Ergots are among these meds and can produce good, long-lasting results when trying to alleviate the pain. However, they have more side effects and can cause different problems than the one (migraine) problem you started out with.
- Acupuncture – Now, sticking little needles all over my body is not my idea of a good time; however, if these little insurgents are placed correctly, they can create an overwhelmingly peaceful, non-tense reaction in your body. Thus, it will help minimize occurrences of migraines.
- Massage Therapy – Ahhhh…there is nothing like a good massage after a long, stressful day at the office. Yet for migraine sufferers, this type of massage can be very relaxing and soothing to the muscles and tenseness that cause migraines in the first place.
Other options such as chiropractic adjustment and natural supplements can also be good migraine treatment choices, especially natural supplements. They can be added to your diet and will have no side effects, plus research has proven that they will work better than most other options.
