Have you had a long day? Busy with work, errands, kids? Do you seem to not have the energy you used to? Fatigue can be a very bothersome issue and unbeknownst to many, it can also be a very real trigger for the chronic neurological condition known as migraine headaches. Fatigue, hunger, lack of sleep can all be connected and are all triggers for the migraine chain reaction. Most triggers are environmental like sunlight, smelling cigarette smoke or perfumes even weather changes; these all affect each individual differently and cannot always be avoided due to life obligations. Here are some of the other trigger that should be avoided if they can be: stress, humidity, dry air, certain foods, caffeine, alcohol and even back / neck tension.
Uh Oh…Not Again
Once the trigger is encountered though, the migraine is sure to follow and since there is no cure for migraines, it becomes difficult to find relief from the symptoms. You see at first, blood vessels in the brain begin to enlarge and expand in their viscosity causing a chemical, which instigates mass havoc, to be released into the brain. As this chemical attacks the arteries in the brain, the sufferer will experience major lateral pain in the head and various other symptoms such as: vomiting, nausea, constipation, dizziness, blurred vision, loss of motor function as well as cognitive reasoning and many others. The pain associated with migraine and the other symptoms will not stop and relent until the blood vessels which caused this pandemic, stop expanding and return to their normal size and position. The only hope of relief comes from using regularly a migraine treatment option.
Here is one of the choices available to migraine sufferers:
- Prescription Medication – The prescription medications that many doctors recommend for chronic migraine sufferers are Triptans and Ergots. Triptans and Ergots are blood pressure medications that are designed to constrict the blood vessels, thus the blood flow, to calm and normalize blood pressure. The problem lies in that a normal blood pressure person who suffers from migraines taking these can experience some major side effects since the constrict of the blood flow is not medically necessary; yet many doctors feel it can help with migraine headaches. Ergots are especially dangerous as they constrict blood vessels near and around the heart and other major organs. This can result in heart attack or even death.
