Have you ever been dizzy? I remember when I was a kid and we used to put our head on a bat, bend over and spin around ten times; then we would try to run to the goal and back again as fast as we could. The only problem was that we were so dizzy that the faster we ran, the more we would fall flat on our faces. Fun game when coupled with mild dizziness but when dizziness turns to vertigo as it does with migraine headaches, the person does not have a fun time. Loss of work and abandoning family obligations does not bring about feelings of joy and excitement. Yet none the less, these are many times the results of a chronic neurological disorder called migraines. Extreme vertigo is just one of the symptoms; here are some of the other symptoms a migraine sufferer has to deal with: vomiting, nausea, constipation, loss of motor function and cognitive reasoning, blurred vision, shapes and squiggles in vision or even temporary blindness in one eye. Also, the unbelievably intense and throbbing unilateral head pain, that make feel like you should slam your head in the refrigerator door just to alleviate the pain from one to another, is always present and most commonly associated with the migraine process.
The Cause And Relief
All of the above circumstances are started by the individual encountering a trigger that is unique to them and found in their surrounding environment. A trigger could be any of the following: weather changes, stress, hunger, lack of sleep, certain foods, smells like body odor, perfume or smoke inhalation, humidity, noises like rock concerts and even back / neck tension. Once the trigger is experienced, the migraine process begins with blood vessels in the brain expanding and enlarging. As they expand and change their size, a chemical is release in to the brain which attacks the arteries. This fight causes the immense pain and other symptoms associated with migraines and will not stop until the blood vessels return back to their original viscosity. The only hope is to take a migraine treatment which could be anything available such as chiropractic adjustment or even prescription medication. Consult with you doctor as to which migraine treatment option is the best migraine treatment for you.
