Herbal Ingredients and supplements have been used for thousands of years to treat conditions and illnesses common to the human race. In fact, what we now know today as some of the first “medicines” were none other than herbal ingredients and substances that Mother Nature has given to help heal the body. How to treat Migraines with Herbal Ingredients
In the world of migraine treatment there are some herbal ingredients and supplements which have stood the test of time, many different cultures and people have used these herbal ingredients for years to find migraine relief; however, the difference now is that these herbal ingredients also have clinical studies and trials that back them up as a successful treatments for migraine relief. The most commonly used herbal ingredients that Mother Nature has provided for migraine treatment are:
- Ginger – Ginger works almost like the commonly used Triptans (a prescription drug) by attaching to human serotonin receptions in order to help reduce migraine triggers but without any of the nasty side effects that the Triptans commonly cause. Ginger is 100% natural and while reducing the common migraine triggers that cause migraine pain it has also been shown to help alleviate symptoms such as nausea and vomiting that are commonly associated with a migraine headache.
- Magnesium – Research has shown that most migraine sufferers have low levels of magnesium. So the common thought is that if the magnesium levels can become more balanced then migraine attacks would happen less frequently, and in fact research has shown that this is possible.
- Feverfew – Is a naturally occurring herbal ingredient that has the ability to obstruct the release of blood vessel dilating substances from platelets that can cause migraine pain. Feverfew also aids in lessening the inflammation of blood vessels which decreases migraine pain, as well as helping to reduce vomiting and decrease the severity of a migraine attack if one should occur.
- Butterbur – is an herbal ingredient that has shown in clinical studies to have reduced migraine attacks by as much as half when used over a period of sixteen weeks. Research during this study also demonstrates that the severity of the migraine attack was also reduced with the use of butterbur.
- White Willow Bark – This herbal ingredient works as an anti-inflammatory which reduces migraine pain, it also helps with reducing the pain caused by constraining prostaglandins.
