“Joy to the world, the Lord has come….” Oh, Christmas time! It is a time for cheer and giving gifts; a time for fresh eggnog and five-year-old fruit cake. Yet what would really be awesome for the chronic migraine sufferers at Christmas time is having a cure for their vascular, neurological condition. You probably won’t be unwrapping that on Christmas morning; however, you can gain some relief by the use of a migraine treatment. Migraine headaches affect millions of Americans each year and without the proper migraine treatment, the holidays can look bleak. Neck / back tension is a common migraine trigger; so if you manipulate the tense muscles, you can remove the migraine’s potential and the symptom’s effect. The sub-occipital muscle group is the target for the tension relief. DO NOT have deep-tissue massage as this will aggravate the migraine and intensify the symptoms.
Chiropractic Adjustment
A number of my friends swear that chiropractors know more about medicine than most doctors do. I tend to agree as I see how a simple adjustment of your vertebrae can solve many ailments people struggle with today; this includes migraines.
Prescription Medication
Triptans and Ergots are the main drugs given to migraine sufferers, even though they were not designed for migraines but high blood pressure. Triptans constrict the blood vessels which does slow down and almost eliminate the cause of the migraine but they also constrict every blood vessel which isn’t good. Ergots are even more volatile than Triptans as they constrict the blood vessels around the heart. Heart attack is a risk factor here.
