There are a number of diseases out there that an individual can get and live with for the rest of their life without the illness resulting in death. A migraine headache is one of them as you can get chronic migraines on a regular basis and never get rid of the illness. In fact, it is not specifically an illness; it is more of a condition or syndrome with no cure and no hope of relief outside of using a migraine treatment option on a regular basis. If you are not consistent, then you could subject yourself to false hope of relief and more unneeded pain and agony. Consult with your primary care physician to determine what treatment options you would prefer and which one would best to meet your needs of migraine relief.
A Migraine’s Second Stage
The Aura phase-in does not show up until just before the actual headache settles in. This phase shows up twenty to sixty minutes before the intense migraine headache symptoms begin. CSD or Cortical Spreading Depression is also a key symptom and is even suspected to be a key contributor to the start of a migraine to begin with. It starts at the back of the head and travels slowly to the front causing the nerves to be depressed in their response to impulses. It is important that friends, family and employers are notified during this stage that over the next few days you may be somewhat out of sorts as you cope with your migraine headache. Finding a dark quiet place to rest is important during this stage so that the migraine attack does not intensify. Symptoms that come with the migraine aura stage typically affect vision and produce the following symptoms:
• Black spots in eyes
• Flashing Lights
• Blank Spots
• Zigzag lines
• CSD as mentioned above
• Vertigo
• Temporary Blindness
Triptans Somewhat Help
Treating migraines can be done through various forms and methods. One of the most common forms of treatment is the use of prescription medications like triptans but medications are not the only treatment options available. There is one treatment option that is often overlooked but should not necessarily be ruled out is Migraine Surgery. Migraine surgery has been a treatment option for those individuals who simply do not respond well to medication and feel that their quality of life is habitually hindered as a result of their migraine headaches. Deciding to undergo migraine surgery implies that a surgical cauterization of the superficial blood vessels in your scalp will need to be had in order to limit and possibly remove all signs of migraine pain forever. However, before the surgery could happen, a doctor must first determine with absolute certainty that it is indeed the superficial blood vessels causing the intense migraine pain before operating.
