They have the throbbing pain; with sensitivity to light and/or sound accompanied with nausea as well as sometimes vomiting. Conventional doctors believe that poor dietary lifestyles and dehydration can produce migraines; stress and tension are believed to add to the progress of chronic migraine headaches. Additional elements have also been identified to cause migraines.. Muscle tension, as in, when your body stores emotional stress that can be leading to poor circulation, is also a cause. Physical and mental fatigue can also activate a migraine. Initially, these types of anxieties lead to lasting muscular degeneration, pain, exhaustion, fatigue, and negative or “toxic” emotions. Millions upon millions suffer with migraine headaches in America alone. Migraines, for most, are a chronic condition and a migraine can last for some individuals as long as days in the most severe cases. It is an alternative therapy however many would prefer to call aromatherapy a complementary therapy, because it is one that can be used in combination with other treatments, including headache and migraine medicines.
Aromatherapy for migraines:
Think for a moment about your migraine attacks. Do they make you feel depressed, anxious, or do you get flustered? Do you need to sleep, just want to sleep, yet have trouble sleeping? A good blend for these problems would be something such as these migraine and relaxation or sleep blends: fill a roll on bottle roughly two-thirds with Sweet Almond Oil add six drops of Lavender Oil which helps relieve headaches and promotes relaxation as well as sleep and calm, add six drops of Clary Sage Oil that eases anxiety/panic, add six drops of Chamomile Oil which is very good at promoting sleep and relaxation, then add twelve drops of Peppermint Oil which is excellent at assisting with relieving headaches and migraines. Just a side note here, peppermint is also very helpful for the nausea that sometimes accompanies migraines. Then cover top of the bottle with finger and shake to mix. Be sure to check the fragrance of the oil. If it is disagreeable to you, add a few drops of any oil you prefer to make it more pleasing. If any space left, fill any remaining space in bottle with Sweet Almond Oil, insert the roller ball, and then cap the bottle. To use simply apply it to your temples and any other areas of pain. And then massage lightly. You can also roll some onto the back of your hand and breathe in the aroma.
Is your migraine because you are stressed? If so try this wonderful blend for migraines connected with negative emotions use three drops of Chamomile combined with eight drops of Lavender; both of these essential oils promote relaxation, calmness, and sleep. There are multiple ways to use this blend; you can massage your forehead, your temples, or solar plexus. You can breathe it in deeply. Or my personal favorite, you can even pour 15 drops of this aromatic blend into the bathtub and soak for at least 15 minutes; myself however, I am gonna soak for probably round about thirty minutes just to make sure I get a good stress release.
Is your migraine because your muscles are tense? Try this fragrant combination for migraines associated with muscular tension combine four drops of Lavender with five drops of Peppermint. Massage the forehead, temples, neck and shoulders where the tension is most present.
Is your migraine related to anxiety? This should help, mix three drops of Chamomile with three drops of Neroli oil for a mind of clarity, five drops of Marjoram oil to relieve stress then massage the forehead, temples and solar plexus, or breathe it in deeply. Or if you like you could even pour fifteen drops of this fragrant mixture into the tub and soak for at least 15 minutes. These are but a few of the many different combinations for aromatherapy used to help in managing migraines. However, as always, it is best to check with your doctor for what would work best for you.
