If a migraine breaks through and has begun, chiropractic therapy can also greatly reduce the painful symptoms if care is given in a timely manner. Acupuncture is also useful as an additional management or acceptable alternative in regards to pain management in regards to migraines.
Supplements
There are many different supplements used for migraine treatment. A few of the most commonly used are Magnesium, Vitamin B, Coenzyme Q10, and 5-Hydroxytryptophan. Studies have shown that the supplemental dosages of magnesium can help with the painful symptoms of migraines, especially those that might be triggered by the hormonal onset of a monthly cycle in women. Vitamin B2 is an excellent preventative migraine treatment because studies have shown that it can decrease the frequency and severity of a migraine for some patients. Coenzyme Q10 has been shown to have beneficial effects for patients that seek migraine treatment. 5-hydroxytryptophan is a particular supplement that is an amino acid that is made by the body from tryptophan; it is then converted into serotonin which is an important brain chemical. Serotonin can reduce the intensity and frequency of migraine attacks by decreasing the constriction and dilation of blood vessels in the brain which can lead to migraines.
