Work day breaks are coveted times regardless of how brief they may be. Taking a break from work due to scheduled time off is relaxing and needed but taking time away from work to recoup from a migraine headache is frustrating and time wasted. Migraine headaches have powers that most underestimate. Something that may start out as nothing more than just mild head pain can eventually transform into severe and limiting head pain. Migraines creep on slowly and are just as slow leaving as they were coming on, why?
Migraine headaches take their time developing due to way they form. In order for a migraine to develop, the blood vessels in the brain must expand / enlarge. This process of enlarging or expanding may take several days to reach its full limit. During that time, the migraine sufferer begins to develop head pain often resembling a throbbing / pounding sensation. As the blood vessels in the brain enlarge, they release a harmful chemical into the brain that begins to attack the brains arteries, thus causing another set of migraine symptoms to develop such as:
- Nausea
- Vomiting
- Blurred Vision
- Constipation
- Diarrhea
- Cognitive Confusion
- Dizziness
With symptoms such as the ones listed, it becomes painfully difficult for an individual to remain in his or her workplace for any extended amount of time.
Coping With A Migraine
Everybody copes with pain differently some choose to tough it out while other lean more toward the whiney side. Regardless of how one normally would handle pain when it comes to suffering with a migraine headache all the cards are on the table and the response toward the migraine may vary. Those who would normally be tough during intense pain often find themselves struggling to remain upright and productive due to the intense levels of pain.
Migraine treatment is the only effective way one can cope with the pains a migraine brings. Without migraine treatment, productivity is placed on hold as well as the quality of life is surrendered. Migraine treatment should be approached with an open mind and a willingness to accept that it may take several different treatments before finding the most fitting and effective one.
