Have you ever experienced thievery? I remember when I was in college and got a brand new CD stereo for my car; you know, top of the line – Alpine. My wife, girlfriend at the time, took my car to the mall and didn’t take out the deck to the stereo. While she was in the mall, a thief came and stole the Alpine stereo; they also nabbed other vehicles in the area but nonetheless, it was my first experience with a thief. Another unsuspecting thief of you time, energy and joy is the chronic neurological, vascular condition known as migraine headaches. These mind-numbing headaches top the list as the number one reason for people missing work due to illness or any other excuse. Millions of Americans each year suffer from these chronic attacks. They attack your career, your family life and even your down time with no cure waiting in the wings, I might add.
Can’t Stop Life
Migraines are caused by triggers which catalyze the migraine chain reaction. These triggers, as they are called, tend to be environmental or physiological. The environmental triggers are found in your surroundings and can be: bright light, smells like cigarette smoke or perfume, weather changes, loud noises, humidity, dry air, caffeine, alcohol and even certain foods. Physiological triggers are different as they related to you body and what happens within it; they can be: fatigue, hunger, stress, back / neck tension, dizziness, sleep depravity and even too much sleep. These should be avoided if at all possible but sadly many times, they cannot due to life’s many responsibilities.
Consult, Before You Leap
Once a trigger is encountered by the sufferer, the blood vessels in the brain begin to expand and enlarge causing a chemical to be released into the brain. This chemical will attack the arteries in the brain and inflame the trigeminal nerve which both creates the intense, throbbing pain associated with migraine headaches. This pain and other symptoms won’t relent until the blood vessels that started this process return back to their original size and viscosity. Relief can only be found in a migraine treatment. Since there are many migraine treatments available on the market today, it would be wise to consult with your primary care physician to determine which migraine treatment would be best for you
