An interesting fact that some migraine sufferers may not even be aware of is that a migraine attack comes in various stages. Out of these stages the very first migraine stage and possibly the most important stage is the prodrome migraine stage. What makes the first migraine stage so unique is that if the migraine sufferers were to recognize this first stage he or she would be able to drastically reduce the pain level a migraine can bring, shorten its duration and decrease the migraine’s intensity. How?
Migraines do not develop overnight in fact they take several days to fully form and create their havoc. During the first migraine stage certain alerts and warnings are sent off and signal the brain and body that a migraine is on its way and for the migraine sufferer needs to act fast. These warnings or alerts are known as preemptive warning signs. The warning sides that tell if a migraine is on the verge of breaking through may be overlooked or explained away, however if these warning signs are noted and charted migraines can be stopped before they get started.
And Warning Signs Are?
The following are just a few of the preemptive warning signs that can alert the migraine sufferer to seek out a migraine treatment such as the implementation of herbal supplements, acupuncture, massage therapy or a trip to the chiropractors office.
- Sleepiness is often explained away by an overactive brain, bed discomfort and a million other reasons but drowsiness is a sign that a migraine might be in the near future.
- Sudden irritability or changes in mood. Irritability can often be chalked away as not having had a good night’s rest, be cautious of overlooking unexplained irritability.
- Fatigue
- Bouts of depression
- Obsessive yawning
- Cravings for foods high in sugar of lathered in salt
Symptoms such as the ones mentioned might go unnoticed by most, but those that suffer with frequent migraine headaches should take note of the warnings signs, chart them and prepare for the onset of a migraine headache.
