Migraine treatment is nothing that a person should be on the fence about. Migraine treatment is the barrier between the outside world and the hiding place of a chronic migraine victim. The head pain combined with the debilitating symptoms of a migraine make it nearly impossible for a migraine patient to face the world while undergoing a severe migraine attack, but with the right migraine treatment a chronic migraine sufferer no longer has to hide away from the world and those he or she loves.
Symptoms of a migraine are not easily gotten over the pain and symptoms can linger for several days. More than twenty million men and women suffer from chronic migraines and statistics have shown that a migraine headache is the leading cause of missed work and rightfully so. The reason that a migraine headache is so severe has to do with the way a migraine headache develops. The blood vessels in the brain begin to expand and enlarge thus causing a severe throbbing and pounding sensations felt unilaterally right above the eye. As the blood vessels expand, they release a harmful chemical into the brain; the released chemical begins to attack the brains arteries not only causing severe levels of misery but the attack releases a series of miserable and limiting symptoms such as:
- Nausea
- Vomiting
- Constipation
- Diarrhea
- Blurred Vision
- Sensitivity to light and sound
Making A Decision
Making a decision about migraine treatment can be a simple one if the facts are known about each of the treatment options. Without facts, an individual cannot make a safe choice. Migraine treatments can be harmful to the body if the wrong one is selected. Take for instance the use of prescription medications. Prescription medications can be effective for some but for migraine patients severe and deadly side effects are had. Side effects such as depression, anxiety, heart attack, stroke and kidney failure are to name a few of the harmful side effects associated with migraine medications.
Safer more effective treatment options would include the use of natural or holistic treatments such as acupuncture, massage therapy and chiropractic care.
