The four stages of a migraine attack are as complex as a needle in a hay stack. They each have different symptoms that they support and each can mess you up majorly for several days. The stages of a migraine are Prodrome, Aura, Headache and Postdrome.
Aura Stage
This stage is the second stage in the chain of events and it is experienced by the fewest number if sufferers, only about 15% – 20%. This is actually a good as this stage can real mess with your mind. Sufferers in this have reported to experience: blurred vision, zigzag vision, spots in vision, temporary blindness in one eye, dizziness, vertigo, hallucinations and even loss of cognitive reasoning skills. One of the factors that drastically affect this stage from bothering you is a process call Cortical Spreading Depression. During this type of depression, neural activity is initialized and then slowly depressed or dampened over a period of time; CSD can actually start in the back of the head and reach the front in less than thirty minutes. This depression brings out inflammatory contactors which attack the cranial nerve roots, especially the trigeminal nerve. Ginkgo Biloba is a natural herbal supplement found in the Migraine Support Formula which has the ability to minimize the spreading of Cortical Spreading Depression by increasing serotonin levels in the brain. Ginkgo has been known to enhance your mood and even improve mental focus and clarity. The Aura stage tends to leave your head rather cloudy. Also since dizziness is a common issue for most Aura sufferers, Ginkgo Biloba will help stop the unbalanced nature of Vertigo.
Postdrome Stage
This is the stage that most people think the migraine is over so you should be able to just coast; they soon learn that this mentality is wrong and so far from the truth. In this final stage, you feel almost “hung-over” as if you had partied all night long. You can have any one of the following symptoms: nausea, vomiting, fatigue, weakness in muscles and joints and even euphoria or depression. In this stage, Ginger is your friend as it can minimize and help calm most every gastrointestinal issue like nausea or vomiting. It has been used for centuries over in Southeast Asia, where Ginger is primarily from.
