Migraine sufferers usually have a lower level of magnesium when compared to those who do not have migraines. Studies have shown that the supplemental dosages of magnesium citrate can help with the painful symptoms of migraines, especially those that might be triggered by the hormonal onset of a monthly cycle in women. Magnesium Citrate also is proven to be a very effective laxative which stops the progress of a typical migraine symptom, constipation. Riboflavin is also an excellent preventative migraine treatment because studies have shown that it can decrease the frequency and severity of a migraine for some patients. Another benefit of vitamin B2 is that it’s safe to take while pregnant, and it does not cause toxicity. When taken in supplemental form it is best to take vitamin B2 with food as it is more easily absorbed.
The prodrome stage is the most important of the four migraine stages because it is the stage that gives the migraine victim a heads up that a migraine is about to begin; they can now implement a migraine treatment so they could have the best chance of stopping or at least lessening the impending migraine attack. This first stage of a migraine comes with no major pain only signs and symptoms which are uncomfortable and if not caught, could be mistaken as just a stomach ache or just being tired and not an incoming migraine. So make sure you are aware of what happens to you before you feel the full force of the migraine attack; look for symptoms like these: extreme fatigue, depression, anxiety, diarrhea, constipation, weird food cravings, dizziness, irregular urination patterns and even neck / back tension. The Prodrome stage can come upon a migraine sufferer about 2 to 3 days before the onset of the headache stage.
Chiropractic Adjustment
Chiropractic care or spinal manipulation therapy has been a proven method for people seeking alternative migraine treatment. Studies have shown that in the case of tension and migraine headaches, manipulative therapy can be as effective as preventative medications in helping to keep off the onset of migraines. Once a migraine has begun, chiropractic therapy can also greatly reduce the painful symptoms if care is given in a timely manner.
