Have you ever left a doctor’s office feeling more discouraged then you did when you went in? Those of us not working in the medical profession often have a misconstrued idea of what the job of a physician is. We often feel he or she should fix us and make us well with every issue or concern we go in for. This mentality is a fairy tale and not realistic at all. The truth is that though medical professionals can help in certain areas of our personal health there are some things that are just out of their control.
Take for instance migraine headaches, migraine headaches is a chronic condition that affects more than twenty million men and women. Migraine headaches are very painful and can places limitations on a person that leaves then hiding out in a dark and quiet room far from the outside world. When a migraine attacks, it leaves a person feeling weak, nauseated and often confused. The reason that a migraine headache is thought to be a neurological condition rather than just a physiological one, even though a physiological change does take place as well the problem lays in the brain not the body.
Doctor Intervention
So when a migraine patient seeks out the advice and counsel from his or her medical professional, they often go in with high expectations that his or her medical professional can and will be able to treat the pains being felt – not true. Though some advancement have been made regarding migraine treatment, there is still no known cure for migraine pains so all a medical professional can do is treat the symptoms with prescription medications.
Prescription medications can help alleviate the pain of a migraine somewhat but that does not guarantee a 100% migraine free life. Migraine treatment is a crucial component to living with migraines but treatment does not promise relief. Alternative treatment options are available for those who do not prefer prescriptions. Alternative migraine treatment options would include a natural or holistic approach to relief. Natural treatment options would include:
- Acupuncture
- Massage Therapy
- Chiropractic Care
