Just like the weather goes through different seasons, so does a migraine headache. Most people do not think about migraines as a progressive thing but it is. Migraine headaches are a slow moving condition in that once they begin to build it takes time for them to reach their full level of fury; the reason that this true is because the blood vessels in the brain need time to fully enlarge and or expand. During the expanding of the blood vessels, the migraine victim begins to encounter a series of miserable symptoms such as throbbing / pounding head pain.
There comes a point in the process of blood vessel expansion that harmful chemicals begin to seep out and strike up war with brains arteries all of this is part of a process that has through four different migraine seasons or migraine stages. Each migraine stage has its own unique progression that leads into the next season just like summer slowly turns to fall.
Stage #1
Prodrome stage is where several preemptive warning signs take place such as fatigue, obsessive yawning, and bouts of depression and mood swings. When signs like these start to appear, it will be time to implement a migraine treatment, even though no physical pain is had during this stage.
Stage #2
The aura stage is a unique one and not one that every migraine patient endures, but when they do they will begin to experience symptoms such as blurred vision, black spots behind the eyes and dizziness. The symptoms of the aura stage typically last a few short hours and then lead into severe head pains found in the third and most painful migraine season.
Stage #3
The third stage of a migraine is by far the most severe, it is here that the pain hits the fan and the migraine victim is left to cope with the following symptoms: nausea, vomiting, constipation, and diarrhea to name a few. The headache stage can last for several days making productivity and functionality non-existent.
Stage #4
Finally! The End is in sight and soon the migraine victim will be back to his or her old self but not before another day of mild head pain and possible confusion.
