“Dear Diary”…this is a common phrase at the beginning of many a girl’s secret diary. Now, the guys don’t keep a diary; if we want to write something down we keep a journal. Don’t worry, we rarely keep it secret as well. When it comes to migraines however, a migraine journal is great way to research your own head and the way your body handles and responds to migraine headaches, their triggers and even pesky symptoms. You see, there is no cure and even less information on how a migraine starts or works; so the more info you can acquire about your own migraine occurrences, the better off you will be at stopping them because no one wants to good throughout their life with a chronic suffering. Here is what we do know.
The Events
Once a sufferer has encountered a migraine trigger, they will begin to experience the symptoms from the prodrome stage as the blood vessels in the brain begin to expand and enlarge. As the blood vessels expand and enlarge, they cause a chemical to be released into the brain and this chemical will start to attack the arteries in the brain. The attacking here will create the immense and terrible pain associated with migraine attacks. However, pain is not the only huddle to overcome; you could experience any of the following: hallucinations, fatigue, strange food cravings, nausea, vertigo, zigzag vision, constipation, vomiting, dizziness, blurred vision, sensitivity to light or sound, loss of some motor function or cognitive reasoning and even blindness in one eye (temp.). All of these and more will continue to plague the sufferer until the blood vessels that have expanded return to their original size and viscosity.
Treating A Condition
A migraine treatment is the only way to receive some relief from a migraine headache or its symptoms. Yet there are many treatment options available, which one do you choose? I would recommend that you should consult with your primary doctor to determine which migraine treatment is best for you. Don’t make your decision rashly; many individuals chose quickly to find relief and ended up with more side effects than cures.
