A migraine headache unlike a normal tension headache does not appear and then go away after swallowing a few over the counter pills. A migraine headache is miserable; it comes and hangs on for dear life. A migraine headache does not go away without serious intervention. A migraine headache settles in for the long haul, they last all day long and often into the night. Some chronic migraine sufferers have reported up to fifteen headache filled days out of the month; this is a crazy thought and a miserable way to live. When living with such intense migraine pain, the quality of life drastically reduces and life looses some of its joy.
Migraines are so crippling for several different reasons but the main one has to do with the longevity of the pain. A normal headache that affects the head, neck and shoulders may cause some discomfort but the pain subsides after a few short hours, whereas a migraine headache can last up to seventy two hours. The second reason that a migraine headache is so miserable has to do with the way the migraine develops. A migraine develops in the brain and is referred to by neurologist as a reoccurring neurological condition or vascular headache.
Pain And Productivity
The migraine develops in the brain this is why it is referred to as a neurological concern. As the migraine grows in intensity, the blood vessels in the brain begin to expand and as they expand they begin to release a harmful chemical into the brain. The released chemical stirs up trouble for the brains arteries and the brain fights back by way of relinquishing a series of miserable and relentless migraine symptoms such as nausea, vomiting, constipation, diarrhea, blurred vision, cognitive confusion and sensitivity to lights and sound.
With symptoms such as the few listed, it is no secret as to why a migraine sufferer struggle with life and productivity while coping with the pains from a migraine attack. Treating a migraine headache must be done so with care and caution. It is imperative that the migraine patient take his or her time when seeking out a migraine treatment.
