Unfortunately, no many people are aware of the adverse side effect some migraine treatments have nor do they ask those pertinent questions. Could this be you? Are you currently taking a potentially harmful treatment? How do you know? Well, the first thing you can do is to research your current treatment and then get a second physician’s opinion as you might find different viewpoints in the process. Then review some of the choices I have given you and make a well-informed, wise decision so that you can avoid those nasty side effects. But before I go over some options for migraine treatment, we will go over some of the catalyzers of the migraine chain reaction.
Triggering A Response
Migraines are one of those conditions that very little is known yet what we do know is that migraine are started or initiated by environmental or physiological triggers. For example: if one of your triggers is bright lights, then going to the beach or a photo shoot would most likely bring on a migraine headache. Also if one of your migraine triggers is the smell of certain perfumes, then sometime going anywhere could bring on a migraine. Now as we have just seen, you want to trying to avoid your triggers like the beach or flash photography; however, some triggers, like smells, can be experienced most everywhere and you can’t avoid life or it’s not worth living. Here are some of the other known triggers: sensitivity to sound, weather changes, humidity, dry air, certain foods, caffeine, alcohol, other smells like cigarette smoke or body odor, stress, hunger fatigue and even neck tension.
The Potential To Hurt
Prescription meds are the most convenient migraine treatment out there right now as they come in tablets, or even nasal sprays or inhalants. Triptans and Ergots are their names and they constrict the blood vessels which normally would expand causing a migraine. However, they also constrict all other healthy, normal blood vessels throughout the rest of the body since Triptans and Ergots were designed for high blood pressure patients and not migraines. Make sure you look at each of the migraine treatment available to know which is best as the side effect like heart attack or death might shock you.
