Just like with all other prescription medications, triptans also can come with side effects. Each person’s body reacts differently to these medications. Patients should remember that their doctor knows the side effects and has chosen that the benefits outweigh the risk of the medications.
Patients should keep every appointment with their doctor while taking triptans. The doctor will continually check blood pressure and do other routine checks at these appointments. These tests will assess whether the triptans are posing any other risk to the patient’s health. The doctor will also assess whether or not the triptans are helping the patient.
