A lot can change in a seventy two hour time period. In seventy two hours, a person could board a train from Tampa, Florida and travel to Washington DC and back. Imagine the amount of laundry that could get done in three short days? Three days or seventy two hours may seem like no time at all and for some seventy two hours may seem or feel like an eternity. Those who are forced to deal with migraine pain on a consistent basis know what it feels like to have three short days drag on for an eternity. Migraine headaches are miserable to have to endure for any extended period of time and for some migraine sufferers the coping time can be anywhere up to three days.
One of the main questions that migraine sufferers ask their medical adviser is “why does the pain lasts so long?” this answer is an understandable one due to the amount of pain a migraine accrues. The reason that a migraine is long and painful has to do with the way a migraine develops. A migraine develops in the brain and takes time to fully manifest. For a migraine to develop, the blood vessels in the brain must expand and the expanding of the blood vessels can take up to seventy two hours.
Symptoms Unleashed
When a migraine is in the developmental process, several symptoms begin to manifest such as the throbbing / pounding sensation in the head that is caused by the enlarging of the blood vessels. As the blood vessels enlarge, they begin to release a series of chemicals that plague the brains arteries. The plaguing of the arteries results in the spewing forth of several other symptoms such as:
- Nausea
- Vomiting
- Constipation
- Diarrhea
- Blurred Vision
- Sensitivity To Light And Sound
When migraine symptoms have fully unleashed themselves, the migraine patient is left to wallow in complete misery for several days. Migraine symptoms such as the few listed above prevents the migraine patient from being able to function at a normal capacity making the migraine misery dredge on and on.
