The intensity of a migraine headache can last for several days leaving the migraine victim helpless to do anything more than to sit back and ride wave after wave of migraine pain and migraine symptoms. Chronic migraine suffers know all too well the different migraine stages and how over the duration of the migraine the symptoms only move from bad to worse. Symptoms such as nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, head pain and cognitive confusion are brought on by the chemical changes that occur in the brain while experiencing a migraine.
When a migraine is triggered, the brain begins to undergo several physiological changes that lead to the onset of a full blown migraine and the terrible migraine symptoms. The process is as follows: the blood vessels in the brain begin to enlarge releasing harmful chemicals into the brain, the harmful chemicals that have been released in the brain begins to attack the brains arteries. As the brains arteries are being placed under attack, symptoms begin to develop and render a migraine sufferer helpless.
Throughout the course of a migraine, the body undergoes several migraine stages such as the pre-headache stage that then leads into the aura stage where victims may suffer from blurred vision and spotting behind the eyes, shortly after the aura stage the headache stage develops and the climax of the last several days comes into play. Finally, the last and final stage of a migraine is the post headache stage also known as the prodrome stage. One would think that this fourth and final stage would imply that the end is in sight; however that is not the case.
What Happens Now?
During the post headache stage, the migraine sufferer begins their trek back to reality but not without a few lingering symptoms. The body during a migraine goes through a major physiological change that creates neurological concern, recouping from such an event is not that simple. Migraine sufferers often struggle with mild head pain, extreme fatigue and bouts of cognitive confusion. Muscle soreness and weakness are to be expected when one comes down from a migraine and the only thing to do is lay low a few hours or days more until the pain is officially over.
