The cause of a migraine is one mystery that might never be solved, however there are theories surrounding the possibilities of migraine causes. For decades medical professional have tried to uncover the secrets behind the migraine and how a migraine develops, what causes a migraine to develop and how to treat a migraine effectively. A migraine develops as the result of the enlarging blood vessels in the brain, but what causes the blood vessels to expand is still a mystery.
Studies and tests have been done regarding migraine headaches and what has been determined is that a migraine headache if had on a repetitive basis is considered to be a neurological condition. As the blood vessels in the brain expand they begin to change the chemicals in the brain thus setting off a harmful chemical into the brain. The released chemical begins to strike out at the brains arteries releasing a series of miserable migraine symptoms that inflict misery and complications on a migraine victim’s life. So what is a migraine sufferer supposed to do and where is he or she supposed to find his or her answers?
Possible Answers
Due to the lack of knowledge on the topic of migraine headaches medical professionals have been left to conjure up theories on migraine causes. One theory that seems to hold some water is the theory of migraine triggers. Migraine triggers are environmental or physiological upsets that could help set the stage for a migraine to develop. When a migraine trigger is encountered the blood vessels in the brain begin the process of enlarging and inflicting their misery on the migraine victim.
Migraine triggers can be something as uncommon as a smell to something more complex such as hormonal imbalances. The following is a list of possible migraine triggers that could create a setting for a migraine to develop.
- Weather – drops or changes in barometric temperature
- Odors – perfume, body odor and cigarette smoke
- Hormones
- Flashing Lights
Though there is no guarantee as to a migraine triggers having been the cause of migraine headaches but the theory is somewhat sound and has some evidence as to being true
