Hide and go seek was a fun game to play as a child but once a person hits a certain age the game no longer holds much appeal. The coming of a certain age means putting aside childish games and facing life head on and all that it is going to throw at you. As a child, life was much simpler a child could run into the comforting embrace of his or her parent, cry and share the hurts they were feeling and know that mom or dad would take care of the problem threatening to ruin his or her happiness. Life as an adult is not as simple and we are left to handle our own hurts and things that threaten to ruin our happiness.
Migraine headaches are just one of the many obstacles that can threaten a person’s happiness. A migraine attack threatens to ruin a person’s happiness as well as the person’s ability to function at a normal level. The development of a migraine is neurologically frustrating as well as painful. As a migraine develops, it causes an upset in the brains normal function by forcing the blood vessels in the brain to enlarge or expand. The enlarging of the blood vessels in the brain causes severe head pains such as throbbing and pounding. The continual enlarging of the blood vessels eventually leads to the release of a harmful chemical into the brain that begins to attack the brains arteries setting off a series of unwanted and miserable symptoms that can leave a person incapacitated for several days.
Run But You Can’t Hide
When a person is diagnosed with migraine headaches, one of the first questions out of his or her mouth is what causes a migraine? Sadly, there is no known cause of a migraine that can be pinpointed, treated and avoided. What we do know is that migraine triggers can play a role in the onset of a migraine headache. A migraine trigger can be either environmental and or physiological upsets such as:
- Hormones
- Weather
- Stress
- Odors
- Foods
Migraine triggers surround daily existence and are unable to be avoided or to hide from. The goal is to learn to live with the migraine triggers rather than try to avoid them.
