It is so easy in life to get off track and start heading in a direction that is opposite of the direction you should be going. Life is busy, hectic, crazy and full of interruptions. The inability to say no also plays a role in the crazy schedules that so many people around the world have. But what if the busy life we lead played a role in the decline of our personal health? Would we stop, turn around refocus and cut a few things out of our life in order to slow down and get our life back on track and healthy again?
Studies are showing that lifestyle plays a large role in a person’s ability to stay healthy. Running here and there makes it difficult to keep up with eating right, exercising and most importantly for chronic migraine sufferers sleep. Sleep is vital to migraine health and wellbeing. How so? It may seem like too simple of an answer for helping reduce migraine headaches but it is true. Getting little sleep, too much sleep or interrupted sleep leave a migraine prone individual vulnerable to a migraine attack. Sleep is just one of the areas that people with busy lives let fall through the cracks without even realizing the effect that something this small can have on personal health.
Refocusing
Several other ways a person’s lifestyle affects migraine headaches and their development would have to be the way they eat. Choosing to avoid meals or fasting for an extended period of time can lead to a life pattern of unhealthy choices as well as a life of suffering with severe and debilitating migraine headaches. Even for those who do not fast but eat poorly and are consuming large amounts of caffeine, chocolate and dairy products could find themselves flat on their back with a migraine for weeks at a time.
It is important that you know what triggers are setting off your migraine headaches and that a medical professional has been sought and treatment options have been discussed before any treatment options are implemented and used on a consistent basis.
